WHAT IS SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION?

SMP is an innovative, solution that replicates the appearance of tiny hair follicles with a medical grade tattooing process.

Dr. Wasserbauer and the staff at California Micropigmentation have been training medical practitioners around the world to safely and properly perform SMP.

SMP-Procedure

Our practitioners apply a specially formulated pigment (ink) to the scalp with micro-fine needles to create thousands of tiny impressions, giving the illusion of hair, similar to the artist’s technique of stippling.

This affordable solution can be used to thicken thinning hair, enhance an existing hair transplant result, camouflage scalp scars or provide an alternative to individuals who want a non-surgical treatment to create the illusion of hair.

The appearance can be either permanent or temporary, and often requires multiple sessions, but the results can be particularly useful when more density is needed than grafts are available.  It is also great when scars need camouflage, or for mimicking a buzz cut or a “shaved look.”

For those who choose to keep their hair long, SMP helps the hair look fuller when wet.
